Spotting damage caused by the sun is a fairly easy process. In early adult hood damaged skin is easier to spot. Wrinkles should feel harsh and coarse if they were caused by over exposure. It should feel somewhat rough and have a skin color pigment which is discolored. It is normal to have skin that is colored differently in patches. Trouble areas such as the back and neck will have a leathery feel to it, usually fairly dry. Indications to a possible of skin cancer are small red and brown spots that feel harder then your other areas. There are times when these areas are difficult to be seen but can be felt easily. If not treated right away, these spots may evolve into thick white skin. Trouble areas include face, backs of the hand, and lower legs.

Eating properly will help prevent oily skin. It has been determined that chocolates and sweets have a connection with acne. Other foods which should be watched for are fish, and iodized salt. Remember that you should only reduce consumption not eliminated. Toxins should also be eliminated; this includes margarine and hydrogenated fats, sugars, aspartame, mono sodium glutamate (MSG), fried foods, and alcoholic drinks. Foods which discourage oily skin are primarily organics such as vegetables.

The pores around the nose are also larger because of the larger oil glands. Sebaceous glands are also found along the back, neck, and chest. There is no way to completely eliminate oily skin; the amount of oil produce is based purely on genetics. During puberty oil glands are more active, which sometimes is the cause of acne.
