It is impossible to eliminate oily skin, but with a few skin care tips oily skin can be minimized. Dirt and daily oils from skin do not cause acne; however, indirectly they do. Without proper washing, pores will be clogged and more prone to acne. Washing with hot water, and strong soaps will not do anything to help fight oily skin. Apply sunscreens with the proper SPF to suit the occasion, and apply it often throughout the day. A good tip is to avoid the sun when it is at its strongest points. Simply avoid the sun during the mid-day.

Topical antibiotics are used in cases of mild acne. It is a cream which is applied twice a day to reduce bacteria and redness. Topical antibiotics are only available by prescription. Topical vitamin A derivatives are used to help eliminate blackheads, whiteheads and unclogging pores. This is also only available by prescription.
