When purchasing cleansers, remember to by mild or light depending on your skin texture. Start with a mild and slowly move towards light when needed. The same strategy should be used with cosmetics; nothing should be put on skin which has the chances to irritate it. Only cosmetics which are do not have oil foundations should be used to avoid further irritation. Instead try to find water based cosmetics. They are more natural and allow pores to breathe. Remember that you should only reduce consumption not eliminated. Toxins should also be eliminated; this includes margarine and hydrogenated fats, sugars, aspartame, mono sodium glutamate (MSG), fried foods, and alcoholic drinks. Foods which discourage oily skin are primarily organics such as vegetables.

The pores around the nose are also larger because of the larger oil glands. Sebaceous glands are also found along the back, neck, and chest. There is no way to completely eliminate oily skin; the amount of oil produce is based purely on genetics. During puberty oil glands are more active, which sometimes is the cause of acne.
