The suns effects on our skin can be classified into two categories, acute and chronic. Acute affects include common sun burns or rashes from short term over exposure. Chronic affects include the compounded skin exposures over time which causes long term lasting affects. The chronic affect most known are visual changes known as photo aging.

There are many products available to reverse early signs of sun damage caused by over exposure. Most are available over the counter without any necessary prescriptions. Simple nutritional changes in diets can help skin fight damage, such as consuming vitamin C. Though vitamin C will help the results are not anywhere close to instant. It takes months for any positive changes to occur. Medical treatments include creams and gels which have an abundance of vitamin A. Chemical peels are also used to remove damaged layers to promote regeneration. Chemical peels have higher chances of pigmentations and scarring. Skin fillers are only used with patients with deep wrinkles. In the procedure of skin fillers, certain treatments are injected into the skin to fill wrinkled areas. Although skin fillers have an instantaneous affect, its benefits only last 3 to 6 months. Botox is a similar treatment to skin fillers.
