Spotting damage caused by the sun is a fairly easy process. In early adult hood damaged skin is easier to spot. Wrinkles should feel harsh and coarse if they were caused by over exposure. Chemical peels are also used to remove damaged layers to promote regeneration. Chemical peels have higher chances of pigmentations and scarring. Skin fillers are only used with patients with deep wrinkles. In the procedure of skin fillers, certain treatments are injected into the skin to fill wrinkled areas. Although skin fillers have an instantaneous affect, its benefits only last 3 to 6 months. Botox is a similar treatment to skin fillers.

Topical antibiotics are used in cases of mild acne. It is a cream which is applied twice a day to reduce bacteria and redness. Topical antibiotics are only available by prescription. Topical vitamin A derivatives are used to help eliminate blackheads, whiteheads and unclogging pores. This is also only available by prescription.
