The sun is an important aspect of everyday life. It regulates the earth's time, gives life to the earth, and is essential to our survival; however, it does harm out skin. We all need the vitamin D from the sun, but too much exposure will cause age spots, accelerate aging, create burns, and maybe even cause skin cancer. Eating properly will help prevent oily skin. It has been determined that chocolates and sweets have a connection with acne. Other foods which should be watched for are fish, and iodized salt. Remember that you should only reduce consumption not eliminated. Toxins should also be eliminated; this includes margarine and hydrogenated fats, sugars, aspartame, mono sodium glutamate (MSG), fried foods, and alcoholic drinks. Foods which discourage oily skin are primarily organics such as vegetables.

The pores around the nose are also larger because of the larger oil glands. Sebaceous glands are also found along the back, neck, and chest. There is no way to completely eliminate oily skin; the amount of oil produce is based purely on genetics. During puberty oil glands are more active, which sometimes is the cause of acne.
