Before learning how to treat oily skin, we first must discuss what causes it. The oil found primarily on the face is produced by glands called the sebaceous glands. As we all know the nose is a problematic area on the face, this is because the sebaceous glands are often larger in those areas. The pores around the nose are also larger because of the larger oil glands. Sebaceous glands are also found along the back, neck, and chest. There is no way to completely eliminate oily skin; the amount of oil produce is based purely on genetics. During puberty oil glands are more active, which sometimes is the cause of acne.

There are many products available to reverse early signs of sun damage caused by over exposure. Most are available over the counter without any necessary prescriptions. It takes months for any positive changes to occur. Medical treatments include creams and gels which have an abundance of vitamin A. Chemical peels are also used to remove damaged layers to promote regeneration. Chemical peels have higher chances of pigmentations and scarring. Skin fillers are only used with patients with deep wrinkles. In the procedure of skin fillers, certain treatments are injected into the skin to fill wrinkled areas.
